Chris Soules takes his harem to New Mexico on The Bachelor Season 19 Episode 5. Cruise ship singer Carly gets the first date. She and Chris visit a love guru who, through a series of uncomfortable events, encourages them to get to know one another on a more intimate level. They talk about their relationship fears later that night and Carly gets the date rose.

On the group date, Chris and the women go white water rafting down the Rio Grande. Jade falls out of the raft and she suffers from a hypothermic condition. Once they're on dry land again, she gets a foot rub from Chris to help improve her circulation. During the cocktail party that night, Jordan, who was eliminated three weeks ago, shows up asking Chris for a second chance. 

He invites her to stay for the cocktail party, greatly displeasing the other women. Whitney gets the date rose.

The next morning he surprises Britt at 4:30 a.m. to take her on a hot air balloon ride and in the process of waking her up, shushes Carly. Then he and Britt kiss repeatedly in front of the other girls. Later she and Chris take a nap together, and upon learning that information, Kelsey decides to make a play for Chris' attention.

She sneaks into his room to tell him the story of her late husband. During the pre-rose ceremony cocktail party, Kelsey has a panic attack.
