Recap

On The Conners Season 1 Episode 2, Darlene is waiting for David at a parent-teacher conference to hear how Mark is doing in school. She is surprised to learn David has brought a guest along and introduces Darlene to his girlfriend Blue. Blue tries to make it seem like she is a big part of the kids life despite only meeting Harris and Mark twice. Darlene gets angry when Blue mentions the kids are coming over to the house over the weekend despite Darlene not having any knowledge of this visit. David explains he thought he'd be able to get the kids whenever he wanted to see them and Darlene eventually relents.

While at Blue and David's apartment Harris ends up having sex with a boy she likes. Darlene is furious and tells David off first. He explains he wasn't aware of what happened until the next day because he has been working a lot. Darlene confronts Blue and tells her she has no right to give her daughter advice especially when it comes to sex. Darlene makes Harris leave with her and they discuss what she went through in the car. Darlene explains she wants Harris to be upfront with her about everything going on in her life.

Meanwhile, Becky is desperate for money and she hears Dan telling DJ he needs to hire someone for his crew. Becky offers to help out but things take a turn for the worse when she shows up at the job site drinking vodka out of a water bottle. Dan tells Becky what she did could have destroyed his business and if something happened to her while she was intoxicated he could lose his license. Becky finally admits she has a problem and tells Dan she won't let it happen again and he gives her a second chance.

Blue: Thank you for having me member of the noblest profession and it's so nice to finally meet you, Darlene.
Darlene: Yeah it's nice to meet you, too. What a delightful surprise that it's happening in here.

He was working overseas. Not for money but he's a good dad. Not a great job or he would have been on time.
