Recap

Cora pens a letter to Stella, who she just learned is dying from tuberculosis.

Frankie wakes up and wonders if they've been robbed, and wonders where Martha is.

Stella wants to see Cora and Frankie one more time.

Cora and Frankie work on cleaning up the mess Cora made the previous night.

Stella notices a letter from Will, letting her know that Stella is dying and wants Cora to visit.

Dr. Luke is not recovering well after getting mugged, with his hand still out of commission.

Spencer cares for him, but Dr. Luke decides to be an ass to him.

He tries picking up some surgical tools, but they reopen the wound on his hand and he is unable to manipulate them.

Martha learns that Spencer is going to buy the building that her new friends live in, and Martha is happy for them but wants real change, not just one person's thing.

Spencer tells Cora that he thinks Luke will never be able to operate again.

Cora goes to visit Luke and finds his door unlocked.

She sees the place destroyed and a wreck.

Luke does not resent her for visiting, and she embraces him.

He resists her offers for help but vows to look after him.

He starts to resist her, but she persists.

She offers to move him into her house.

He mocks her and admits to being in love with her, which is why he cannot move in.

Cora visits Martha and they start off cold towards each other.

Cora apologizes for how she treated Martha.

They make amends a bit and rekindle some of their friendship.

Spencer goes back to Dr. Luke's and he relents and lets Spencer help him.

Martha and Cora have a heart-to-heart about things they missed in each other's lives the past few days, and Martha helps her regain her confidence.

Cora decides to head back to Essex to visit Stella with Frankie.

Spencer offers Martha a job running a socialist campaign for affordable housing, and she is delighted.

Stella tells Cora that she's dying, which Cora doesn't want her to say.

Cora heads out to find Will, who is not happy to see her there.

Will reveals that the townsfolk are still scared.

Stella tells Frankie that the serpent is alive and that she's seen it, and offers to take him to see it.

Cora and Will have more intimate moments together and start to undress.

Stella gets into the boat she prepared and tells Frankie to set her off, which he does.

The boat starts off into the water, and Frankie watches.

It starts to fill with water and starts to sink.

Frankie tells Will and Cora where Stella is (the boat), and Will starts to swim after her.

He reaches Stella in the water and saves her before she drowns, but a creepy presence appears behind him before leaving the water.

Naomi exits Cracknell's house, safe and sound, but looking a little worse for wear.

She heads to her home, where she finds her father waiting for her.

She assures him everything's going to be alright, and that she thinks the serpent is dead.

The town is celebrating the death of the beast, what they think to be a serpent, but is actually a very large whale.

Naomi and Jo embrace at the location of the whale carcass.

Will watches as Stella dies in her sleep.

Six months later Cora is one of the leads on a new exciting dig.

Dr. Luke writes to Cora, and he reveals that he is the head of the medical school.

Cora writes to Will, and she reveals that she still loves him, even if she's content.

He has saved every letter she's written him.

As she leaves the dig site, Will shows up, and they embrace.

They hold hands and walk off into the fields, on their long trek back.
