On The Good Doctor Season 6 Episode 16, Shaun fights for a lawyer with OCD to take his malpractice case even though no one else thinks it's a good idea.
The Good Doctor Season 6 Episode 16 serves as a backdoor pilot for a spin-off series.
After getting served with a notice that he is being sued, Shaun lets Glassman take him to see his lawyer, Janet Stewart. Janet thinks Shaun should settle out of court, which Shaun initially balks at because he'd have to be supervised for six months by doctors he doesn't see eye-to-eye with.
Shaun runs into Joni, a young associate who works out of a closet like Shaun did when he didn't want to share space with Park. Joni has OCD and strictly does research. However, she says that Shaun should not settle. Shaun decides he wants Joni as his lawyer.
Janet doesn't think this is a good idea and Lea and Glassman are worried about Joni's lack of experience. On Joni's first day, she freezes when the opposing counsel's chair squeaks. Janet tells her that the partners have voted unanimously to take her off the case.
Shaun won't accept that. He believes in Joni and insists she be his lawyer.
