The Department of Justice tasks Reddick, Boseman, & Lockhart with investigating Jeffrey Epstein's death.

The lawyers end up going down a crazy rabbit hole that leads them to Epstein's interest in eugenics and cryonics.

Marissa and Jay even go to the U.S. Virgin Islands to see if they can find BUD, something which Epstein went to great lengths to ensure before his death.

While the investigators come up empty, the audience learns at the end of the episode that Epstein did freeze his brain and penis, or BUD, in the hopes of reattaching the organs to something in the future to carry out his desire to impregnate multiple women with his sperm.

Firth demands Reddick, Boseman, & Lockhart reduce personnel by 20 percent, prompting Diane, Liz, and Adrian to consider buying themselves out.

The name partners managed to secure $20 million, but Firth reveals it will actually be $80 million due to a clause that states all name partners must make more than their previous year's salary.

This problematic for Diane, for, as the head of pro bono, her billable hours are down, meaning the trio doesn't have enough money to leave.

Julius and Diane go to the Office of the Inspector General with what they know about Memo 618, and Julius is later arrested on bribery charges.

The Good Fight Season 4 Episode 7 Quotes

There is another way to look at this. Everybody loves a puzzle – I get that. Everybody loves the secret word that solves everything, but let’s not call conspiracy something that could just as easily be described as incompetence. Look, I had workers come to my house every week, every damn week, to fix a broken faucet. They said they fixed it. About a week goes by, and I have to call somebody else to fix their work. That’s not a conspiracy; that is incompetence. People do just enough work to get by. So the camera was broken out of Epstein’s cell, incompetence. The guards were surfing the web and then fell asleep, incompetence. The prison didn’t secure the crime scene, incompetence. I mean that is America.

Adrian: You’re dictating our staffing methods.
Firth: I don’t consider it dictating.
Diane: What do you consider it?
Firth: Stewardship, which by the way, significantly increases all our income.
Diane: Except for the people who are fired.
