Recap

Dean watches the series finale of his show "The Grinder" with his little brother and his family.

Dean talks to Stewart about not having a family like he does.

Dean comes to court to watch Stewart's trial. Stewart timidly reads notes off of note cards. Dean jumps in with his own opinions while Stewart tries to convince his client to settle. The client sides with Dean and chooses not to settle.

Much to Stewart's dismay, Dean decides he's going to stay in Iowa and take the bar to become a lawyer even though he hasn't attended law school.

Stewart's son, Ethan, is excited for a popular kid to come over, but it turns out that he used him to see his sister.

Dean negotiates with the kid to make sure Ethan gets something out of it.

Stewart tells Dean that he doesn't want him here and asks him to leave. Dean tells him that he's hurt and he will leave in the morning.

Everyone in court the next day, including the judge, is upset that Dean isn't in the court room. Stewart continues to read off of note cards.

Dean arrives in the middle and begins questioning the defendant. He produces a check as evidence that he found in his trash. The defendant exclaims that it can't be the check because he destroyed it. He opens the envelope and it says "Grinder rests."

The defense attorney objects, but Stewart steps in citing precedent and they win the case.

Dean is going to leave, but Stewart stops him and tells him to stay.

The Grinder Season 1 Episode 1 Quotes

Dean: Let's say you're in a restaurant and Noah Wyle is two tables down. You go into cardiac arrest, you don't think Noah Wyle could step in and help?
Stewart: Yes he could help, by calling a doctor, because he is an actor.

Stewart: So you're gonna go to law school?
Dean: I don't think I need that, with the show and all.
Stewart: Oh sure, acting on a TV show is the equivalent of going to law school, so why would you need that?
