The Librarians is a fantasy-drama series that follows the television movie trilogy, The Librarian, which first aired on TNT in 2004. The series picks up ten years later, with recurring roles from Noah Wyle, Bob Newhart, and Jane Curtin.

The series brings on four new people to aid Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle), who has been serving as the Librarian in the Metropolitan Public Library, guarding ancient artifacts and keeping the world’s magic from falling into the wrong hands. Flynn has transformed from a bookish introvert with 22 academic degrees, to a secret superhero who fights evil.

Some of the artifacts housed in the Metropolitan Public Library are Pandora’s Box, Excalibur, and the Spear of Destiny.

The new librarians who help him are Eve Baird (Rebecca Romijn), a counter-terrorism agent; Jake Stone (Christian Kane), an art historian; Cassandra (Lindy Booth), a woman gifted with auditory and sensory hallucinations; and Ezekiel Jones (John Kim), a young man who knows a thing or two about crime. Each of the librarians has their own special talents which will help to save the world, fight supernatural forces, solve mysteries, and recover ancient artifacts.

The new team of Librarians will also be overseen by an expert in ancient lore, Jenkins, who is played by John Larroquette.
