Mindy makes eyes at a guy on the subway and it teased by Peter and Danny. Later Mindy reads an ad in the paper apparently from the man she saw on the subway. Mindy thinks she's found her romantic match on the season finale of The Mindy Project. 

It turns out to actually be Danny, who begins emailing with Mindy under a false identity. When Morgan finds out he threatens to tell Mindy, but Danny agrees to help him with Tamra if he keeps his secret safe.

Danny devises a plan to surprise Mindy with the truth at the top of the Empire State Building. When he ends up standing her up, Mindy gets sick. Danny tries to come clean with her, but when she first asks him to take care of her he can't resist. He and Mindy grow closer as they spend time together.

That is until Mindy sees the same subway rider from the opening scene and attacks him thinking he was the one who stood her up. Danny confesses his deception. He tells her he loves her but she refuses to get hurt a second time. Danny asks her to give him one last shot and meet at her favorite spot. They both end up getting there and kiss.
