When you watch The Mysteries of Laura Season 1 Episode 21, you'll see just how far someone will go to keep the truth from coming out. As Laura and her team investigate the recent murder of an amateur detective, they find out he was digging around on a cold case about a woman named Raquel who was killed on prom night. He created a film which threatened to reveal who the killer was, but two minutes of the film is missing and that's the missing piece Laura needs to solve the crime. Laura and Billy go to the Tribeca Film Festival to retrieve the original copy of the film and find out it was Raquel's boyfriend who killed her because she cheated on him. He killed the filmmaker because he was getting too close to solving the crime. Meanwhile, Jake is not happy with Tony going on vacation with Laura and the boys, but he tries to play it off as being OK. Jake goes to drown his sorrows in some drinks and heads over to a gas station to get a couple things. While at the station, a gunman comes in demanding money from the clerk, but when Jake steps in to save an innocent bystander, he's shot in the chest.
