Jake tries to convince Laura she now has to go out to dinner with him, but she turns things around by saying he needs to provide a doctors note before she agrees to a date. Meanwhile, Billy is surprised to learn everyone in the station knows about his relationship with Meredith. He's on the fence about Meredith meeting his mother and Jake tells him he should hold off on meeting any family members because they only ruin things. Billy's mom eventually shows up at the station and she immediately knows who Meredith is, but respects Billy's wishes and doesn't go over to her. At the bar, Billy convinces Meredith they should take their relationship to the next level because he wants to shout from the rooftops how happy is with her and Meredith agrees to it.
