Recap

For this week's competition of The Taste, the cooks were challenged to create a dish based on the "Happy New Year" theme. The guest judge and mentor this week was chef Michael Symon.

Marcus asked his team to create dishes with beef three ways. Anthony challenged his team to cook eggs in a special way. Ludo and Nigella each asked their teams to cook with seafood.

At this point, Ludo and Anthony's teams are both full, while Nigella only has one cook remaining-- P.K.

Eric represented his team with a dish that included caviar and uni. Michael Symon chose his dish as the winning dish, which meant Anthony's team earned the master class this week.

The team with the worst dish came from Team Nigella, which meant the final cook on her team was sent home.

For the individual challenges, the cooks created dishes including venison, steak, and chicken pot pie. Jen redeemed herself this week and managed to stay out of the taste off, instead thoroughly impressing the judges with her dish.

The cooks who earned gold stars this week were Benjamin, Gabe, and Jen.

The cooks who were in the bottom this week were Dan, Natasha, and Tarik.

In the taste off were Natasha and Tarik, pitting Anthony and Ludo's teams against each other. In the end, it was Natasha who was sent home.
