Recap

Revisiting that Grace called a billion Jonathan Frasers but got the wrong Jonathan Fraser.

She asks her son if she heard from dad. Dad kissed him on the forehead and left. He doesn't understand why Grace is grilling him. Grace finds it odd that Jonathan did that when he usually says goodbye the night before. Grace hopes Henry knows the code for Jonathan's phone, but he doesn't.

Grace can't wrap her head around it. She flips on the phone to detailed news of Elena's death. Reardon is involved. Sylvia calls. She can't imagine how everyone is coping with this, especially Elena's children.

Henry visits Grace in her room, scaring her. Henry points out that Jonathan is usually terrible about checking in. They fight about it all the time. Henry thinks maybe he's on a plane. Jonathan's phone rings, but nobody is there.

Grace recalls Elena saying she feels overwhelmed and lost. She imagines Elena with her children. With the boy finding his mother, bludgeoned beyond recognition.

The school is brimming with activity with parents and reporters. The word is that Elena's husband turned himself in, and that makes the other women gossip about the party and all of the men who were paying Elena attention at the party the night before her death.

Grace goes to work, hoping that Jonthan called. Nope. Grace asks her assistant to call Dr. Rosenthal at the hospital to see if he's heard from Jonathan.

The men with the marriage issues are still talking about why they cheated. It sounds a lot like something that might appeal to Jonathan -- the desire to be mysterious and courageous when they normally feel so ordinary.

Grace meets with Stuart at the hospital. She asks if he heard from Jonathan, and Stuart begins to dismiss himself. Stuart seems embarrassed. There are strict terms at hand, and he cannot talk with Grace. She's even more confused at this point.

Grace recalls Jonathan blowing up balloons for one of his patients on her way to pick up Henry at school. He wonders if his dad is back yet.

Grace visits her dad, Franklin.

Grace meets with the detectives who have followed her to her father's place. They want to take her to the police station for questioning. She's gravely concerned, as she should be.

Franklin wonders why the hell she went with them. He thinks it's a terrible idea, especially without a lawyer, but she thinks it's the quickest way to find the answers she seeks.

She's taken to an interrogation room and takes a seat. She wonders if she needs a lawyer. They assure her they just want to talk and leave the room. Grace spies the cameras uncomfortably.

They think she's hiding Jonathan. That's when Grace learns Jonathan hasn't been employed at the hospital for nearly three months and that his termination followed three earlier disciplinary actions at the hospital.

The detectives wonder again if she's hiding him, mentioning his phone being at the apartment. They wonder if him leaving his phone seems normal.

The detective then wonders why she's not curious as to why her husband got fired. She thinks that obtaining that information, even with a court order, is bullshit. Jonathan was fired due to inappropriate contact with the family member of a patient. Grace looks shocked.

Grace say Jonathan is warm and caring, not the asshole who would walk into a room and tell a parent their child had cancer without possibly touching them in some way.

The detectives want to tell her the patient's name, but Grace vehemently resists. She doesn't want to know. She says it strenuously over and over until the detective asks if she doesn't want to know or if she already knows. It was Miguel Alvez. The detective laughs. He doesn't believe a word Grace is saying despite her obvious reaction.

Grace puts her foot down and leaves without further action.

Now she's imagining the ways in which Jonathan could have touched Elena.

Franklin insists Grace and Henry stay with him tonight, but Grace has to go back to the house to get some clothes and things for Henry.

She sees everything in her house differently, ultimately collapsing on the stairs in tears.

Grace goes through Jonathan's things, trying to find any clues. She finds a scarf she doesn't recognize and smalls it. There is also a bottle of perfume that doesn't belong to her. She recognizes Elena's scent.

Taking Henry to school is a pretty traumatic event these days. They're greeted frostily by all, and the schoolmaster has words for them. He doesn't think Grace should be there. For the good of everyone, she doesn't need to be there. All of the other mothers are staring her down. He assures her that it's a safe place for Henry. Grace cannot believe this is happening.

His advice to her is that she send someone else to pick him up this afternoon. Sylvia is there for Grace when she most needs someone, and they escape to a cafe.

Grace needs to know what people have been saying. The word is that Elena's husband has an alibi, and all of the attention is now focused on Jonathan.

Jonathan hired Sylvia a few months ago as his lawyer. She was formally representing him in the disciplinary hearings. It's privileged information that she shouldn't be sharing, but she cannot help herself. Jonathan said it was all a crazy woman fabricating information about him and ultimately let Sylvia go, saying that the charges were dropped.

Sylvia advises Grace to get the hell out of dodge, and Grace's father wants her to get protection and get out of town, too. She doesn't want a lawyer. She seems to be in denial.

Now everyone is parked outside of her house. The detectives are inside trashing the joint. Mendoza is looking for Jonathan's phone. They're confiscating so much of her stuff. She even wonders why they're taking his hairbrush. The detective patronizes her, and Grace calls him out on it.

She learns that Mr. Alvez is demanding a paternity test because Elena's baby is not his.

The world starts to collapse around Grace.

She escapes to the beach to sit and think, and Henry sneaks up on her again. They're at the beach house and will go back when things die down. She can't comfort him. He thinks she's running away and calls it bullshit.

Grace spies someone down the beach and returns to the house.

Grace crumbles again, and this time, Henry is there to see it.

She hears a sound, looks up into the loft, and sees Jonathan pulling back. A similar sound wakes her in the middle of the night. Upon investigation, she finds nothing. But she sits outside with a comforter until morning, and Jonathan is there. He clasps his hands over her mouth and begins explaining.

Jonathan says that Elena got obsessed with him and then with Grace. He confronted her the night of the party and had sex, and they argued. When he went back, she was dead. Grace calls him out on him crawling into bed, getting cradled by Grace and making love when she thought he lost a patient. She cannot believe anything he says. He blames it all on Elena and how she got a hold on him.

When Henry comes outside, Grace calls police. She's fucking terrified.
