Review Quotes

In 750 B.C., two sisters lay shivering on the ground. One tells the other the story of a man named Cade, capable of reading people's minds. As the story goes, this man's power gave him great empathy but ultimately cost him his life. Cade's death created the Sirens, two sisters who prey on the evil deeds of wicked men.

In the present day, Bonnie has begun the process of starving Enzo to get him to flip his humanity switch back on. Stefan and Alaric plan to spend the day talking to Sybil. Damon, meanwhile, has fled to Texas to find a man named Peter Maxwell. When he doesn't find Pete, he sets Pete's assistant on fire after learning that Lou once murdered one of his wives.

Sybil sits alone in her room in the Armory singing when Stefan rings the fork to stop her. He asks what she wants with Damon and Sybil launches into a story about her past. They learn about the existence of her sister, roaming free in the world while Sybil is trapped in the Armory.

Georgie, Alaric's student, goes to his house to find clues about what he's doing at the Armory without her. Seline intervenes and Georgie tries to stop him from calling Alaric. Damon, meanwhile, finds Peter Maxwell. Peter doesn't know anything about Sybil, but Damon knows he's looking for a Maxwell family heirloom. When Damon spots Pete's watch, he learns that Peter's on vervain and then discovers that Matt Donovan is Pete's son.

Seline tells Ric about Georgie's break-in and Alaric realizes he's not alone at the Armory. Someone is lurking in the shadows near the cave. Georgie locks Ric into the secret room inside the cave. Sybil continues regaling Stefan with her tale of two sisters, asking which sister he is in the parallel version of her story.

She vervains Stefan and Sybil is able to enter his mind, taking him to the island where she and her sister lived. Damon awakens to find himself Matt's prisoner and Matt learns that Tyler isn't dead, but he is severely wounded and bleeding out. Ric tries to find his way out of the cave and makes a video message for Caroline and Stefan. Then he stabs himself in the ears so he can't hear in order to find his way out of the cave.

Seline is the second Siren. Georgie is under her control. She's also still the nanny, despite being in Stefan's vision, and begins telling the twins the Legend of Arcadius. Damon manages to escape Matt's trap and in the process finds what Sybil's looking for.

Stefan proves himself worthy and learns that Seline made a deal with Cade to save them both. They feed on the flesh of the evil to stay young and beautiful and Cade collects their souls. To save Damon, Stefan must kill the devil.

Ric, deafened, finds his way out of the cave and up to the street in the middle of town. Matt and his dad drive back to Mystic Falls and Matt learns that his family has known about supernatural folklore for generations. They find Tyler right where Damon said he would be, but he's already dead.

Seline and Georgie meet up where Seline learns that Sybil doesn't want her help. Seline kills Georgie and sends her to Hell.

Are you an island girl, or a village girl? Wait! Answer me, Stefan, this is important. Who are you in the story? Are you the victim, who tried for years not to feed on human blood, only for his selfish brother to blow into town and ruin it all? Or are you the monster who sealed his brother's fate the day you forced him to turn into a vampire, only to doom him to an eternity of misery because you were afraid of being alone.
