Geralt examines the coins the assassins carried. Nenneke asks how she can help. He asks her to open a portal.

Ciri examines the wall hangings in the house they portalled to and realizes they are in Zola's home where she once took refuge. She finds the bodies of the family. Yennefer recognizes the work as Rience's.

They decide to go to Cintra. Ciri wants to go alone but Yennefer refuses to leave her side. In her head, Voleth Meir urges her on.

In Aretuza, Tissaia and Vilgefortz share an intimate morning. Tissaia reveals that Dijkstra has arrived.

In Cintra, Hake tells Fringilla that he is sure there is a Redanian spy in their midst. Cahir tries to mediate their two sides. Hake is livid to have to work with elves.

Cahir points out the White Flame arrives the next day. He urges her to listen to the generals but she doubts their loyalty the most.

They arrive on the battlements to witness Hake executing a woman for looking for food. Dara sees the bodies of the executed hanging on the castle walls.

Jaskier is singing in a prison cell. The guard gets fed up and leaves only to run into Geralt who knocks him out and takes his keys. Geralt asks for Jaskier's help and the bard sets aside his hurt to do so.

Yennefer and Ciri ride towards Cintra and talk about Geralt.

Francesca and Filavandrel are caring for their daughter. Fringilla comes in to speak to Filavandrel about his fighters. He's had a change of heart. Francesca agrees that they must protect their family first and foremost.

Dijkstra speaks with Stregobor about Francesca's baby, an elven mage-born child. Tissaia asks what else Dijkstra would like to share.

He asks about Triss. She covers for her return. He makes it clear he knows Triss was at Kaer Morhen.

Rience offers the witcher concoction he stole from Vesemir to Lydia to test, thinking it'll attract their employer. She attempts to blood trace it but the fumes burn her and she falls to the ground, screaming.

Jaskier insists on stopping for a bath. He tells Geralt about Yennefer saving his life in Oxenfurt. Jaskier recounts the words Yennefer said before she disappeared. Geralt recognizes the Voleth Meir incantation and names her the Deathless Mother.

They're getting ready to go to Cintra when an axe flies through the air and pins Jaskier's shirt to a rock. Geralt greets a dwarf by the name Yarpen Zigrin, an old friend. Yarpen gives him a horse and his crew joins him for the adventure.

Ciri and Yennefer find the bridge washed out. Yennefer coaches Ciri through another magical lesson. The effort causes Ciri to bleed from the eyes and when the bridge fails to rise, she screams with frustration which causes them and their horses to be transported across the river.

Tissaia finds Triss listening to birds. She asks about Ciri. Vilgefortz storms in demanding information about Ciri. Triss feels betrayed and leaves. Tissaia reprimands Vilgefortz and he yells at her out of frustration. Shocked, she withdraws from him.

Fringilla portals to her uncle Artorius's study. She tells him that she may need to leave Nilfgaard now that the elves have decided not to fight. Her uncle advises her to throw herself on the mercy of the Conclave.

Dara speaks with the owl, expressing his anxiety as well as his change of heart. He resigns his position with Redanian Intelligence.

Hake trashtalks Fringilla to Cahir while they drink. Suddenly, they all stop moving. Fringilla enters, explaining she's paralyzed them with nightshade. She stabs Hake in the eye, another general in the ear, a third in the spine, and another under the chin. All the while, Voleth Meir urges her on.

Fringilla leaves Cahir alive to report to Emhyr that the other generals were plotting against the White Flame.

Dijkstra reports to King Vizimir.

Jaskier and Geralt discuss their plans.

Ciri and Yennefer arrive at the monolith she destroyed. They can see Cintra in the distance. Voleth Meir wants Ciri at the broken monolith. Yennefer and Ciri have a telepathic conversation that reveals Yennefer's mission. Yennefer admits she lied about Geralt being at Cintra. Ciri states she no longer trusts her and a gulch opens in the ground between them, splitting the land all the way to Cintra's walls and cracking them. The Nilfgaard soldiers come after them. Ciri and Yennefer try to fight them off and then Geralt arrives.

Geralt tells Ciri to go back to Kaer Morhen. He promises to join her once he's slayed the monster. He holds Yennefer at swordpoint. Once everyone has left, he has Yennefer speak the incantation. As she speaks, Francesca jerks in her sleep and wakes to find her child murdered.

In her hut, Voleth Meir burns to ash, laughing, and her ashes escape the hut through a burnt hole in the roof. Geralt reasons that if Voleth Meir had enough fear and desperation, she'd be reborn.

Ciri rides away towards Kaer Morhen. Voleth Meir's ashes fly towards her, and Voleth Meir's laughter rings out.
