This Is Us Season 6 Episode 7 revolves around complicated family dynamics at Thanksgiving.

When Rebecca and Jack host their first Thanksgiving for Rebecca's parents, Rebecca can't deal with her demanding mother. From the moment they arrive, Janet is critical of everything Rebecca does in the kitchen, in addition to suggesting she starve herself so that she'll fit into her wedding dress. Eventually, Rebecca explodes, resentful about everything, including Janet's refusal to tell her the secret ingredient in the sugar pie.

Many years later, Rebecca hosts a difficult Thanksgiving. Kevin is morose and drinking too much because of his breakup with Sophie, while Kate is painfully aware that Randall is whispering about how much weight she's gained. And although Rebecca has invited Matt and Miguel brings a date of his own, everyone is struck by the chemistry between Rebecca and Miguel while playing Taboo.

Finally, in the present Randall gets anxious when Rebecca wants to have a big talk after dinner, while Toby and Kate snipe at each other because Toby doesn't approve of Kate giving Jack sugar and Kevin resents Miguel asking him to build a guesthouse on the house he's building for Rebecca.
