Hope insists on keeping her reunion with Doc a secret. Muriel asks Hope’s permission to ask Doc out since she heard the divorce went through. Hope gives her blessing and encourages Doc to go out with her to keep up appearances.

Jack tells Charmaine he hasn’t spoken with Mel since she left town weeks ago. Mel returns to town and runs into the two at Doc’s as Charmaine has hired him as her new OB GYN.

Mel tells Jack she cares about him, but will finish her contract and go elsewhere.

Charmaine struggles with severe morning sickness (hyperemesis gravidarum) during her pregnancy, so Doc wants Charmaine to stay in Virgin River for monitoring. Jack asks Mel to take on Charmaine’s care.

Jack and Hope’s relationship remains strained. Mel convinces Hope to let Charmaine stay with her in an attempt to heal their relationship.

Paige opens up to Preacher about her abusive husband, Wes. Paige takes him up on his offer to let her and Christopher move in with him. When she returns home, she finds Christopher playing with Wes.

Brady returns to Jack’s to ask for a job as bar manager, but Jack turns him away.\

After thinking about it and talking to Doc, Mel agrees to take Charmaine on as a patient. Mel confides in Doc about her concern that she’s ruining Jack’s chance at a family.

Preacher suggests to Jack that he let Mel go.

An intruder breaks into Doc’s while Mel is there alone.
