Recap

Otis arrives at the club as the calendars are being delivered, but when he opens one, he discovers that he isn’t one of the featured men.

Nick travels to New York City, where he pitches his idea of ‘US Male’ to some old friends who deem it sleazy.

The Chippendales dancers have a signing at a local mall, where Otis confronts Steve over being left out of the calendar. Steve tells him it’s just business and not personal, as he thinks a black man in the calendar would be bad for sales.

Nick meets a man at a bar, and post hook up, they discuss bringing Chippendales to New York, with Bradford revealing himself to be rich. Nick then calls Denise about the idea, but she’s not interested.

Steve tells Irene that he bought the printing press that makes the calendars after learning that it would take them weeks to produce more calendars. Later, Steve attempts to take Irene to a posh eatery but faces discrimination from the front desk.

Nick returns to Chippendales and tells Steve they’re opening up a New York Chippendales, or he will open up a rival club. Steve agrees but tells Irene that it was his idea to open the New York branch of the brand.

Otis attempts to make his own calendar with Ray’s help, but Steve shuts it down. Otis then quits.

Later, Ray pledges his allegiance and loyalty to Steve.

Welcome to Chippendales Season 1 Episode 4 Quotes

Steve: Otis, what is the matter?
Otis: You really don't know? The calendar, Steve.
Steve: They love it.
Otis: Yeah. I don't know, I guess I just find it a bit odd that your most popular dancer, I'm the only one left out.
Steve: I know.
Otis: Yeah, why?
Steve: I should have told you that was my fault. I thought about it. I really wanted to put you in it because I love the pictures. But ultimately, I felt it would be bad for sales.
Otis: Bad for sales, how?
Steve: Well, it's one thing for women to enjoy you in the privacy of the club. But hanging in their home. A naked black man in full view of their husbands. You know how white people are. They get threatened. At the office. The boss gets it -
Otis: I think people can handle a shirtless black man.

Ray: I just hope he's okay.
Steve: I don't. The man has abandoned us. No warning, no notice, no indication of when or if he's coming back. I could kill him.
Denise: Not if I beat you to it, Steve.
