Elizabeth cannot believe how fast the time is going and how big Jack is getting. Rosemary seems concerned about Lee, but they don't get to talk about it because Nathan and Allie ride through, stopping for conversation.

Nathan had borrowed Sarge from Elizabeth for the trip.

The culprit is getting carted away to the penitentiary until he goes to trial. Bill explains that the bad guy gets to defend himself in court.

Lee is planning a surprise for Rosemary, and he asks Joseph to accompany him to the mill.

Nathan and Bill are concerned over what they see occurring between Lucas and Walden.

Everyone is excited to see Allie again. Allie is so excited. She thinks May is so beautiful. Nathan plays it cool.

Lucas sees Nathan peering at him from a window, waves, and walks away.

Rosemary isn't pleased with the headline board. People are using it as a community bulletin. Elizabeth wants more, though. What's going on with her?

Rosemary is worried that Lee has grown tired of her. As she's expressing her feelings to Elizabeth, Lee arrives. Elizabeth tries to draw out of him what he's doing every day, but he takes his leave to get back to work.

Minnie takes Mr. Landis a warm cranberry oven. He thanks her, but they don't say much more.

Mike has asked Bill for his help. Bill starts with the way Mike dresses.

Lucas broke his motorcycle, and he apologizes to Elizabeth for looking like he does. She says she likes it because he looks rugged. They kiss in the street before Robert interrupts.

When Lucas says he's looking forward to spending more time with her, Elizabeth tells him about Rosemary and Lee.

Rosemary wonders about their sensational headlines, and Lee loves them. He thanks her for being the managing editor. He's having a ball. She's shocked. Wonders if she's not.

She gets a call from her confidential source and says she'll have to call them back. He says he'll just leave then. They cannot figure each other out.

She heads out to find him and discovers he's not with Joseph as he said.

Lee asks Florence for the name of the person who calls Rosemary. But it's against telephone company relations, and she tells him to mind his beeswax.

Allie is very aggravated that Nathan didn't tell her about his accident. And she wants him to shave off his mustache, which hides his smile.

Allie calls Nathan Dad for the first time, and he's taken aback. It's way better than OK, he tells her.

Minnie invited Landis for dinner. She's hoping to find a way to sit across the table from a man she doesn't like at all to change his heart and hers.

Elizabeth apologizes to Mr. Landis. He hopes to have a ruling from the board of education about her certification. Minnie walks up with her invitation, considering the weather is turning. Elizabeth is shocked. Wonderful!

Fiona is back in town. Henry helps her with her bag. There is a storm coming, so he thinks everyone should get home.

Nathan shrugs his head at all things Mayor Mike.

Lee has left a note for Rosemary, and although it's lovely, it only increases her fears. She doesn't think it was meant for her.

The storm is banging, and Rosemary wonders how Jack sleeps through it. Elizabeth hopes it's because he feels safe.

Joseph looked all over town for Mr. Landis. He couldn't find him. Seconds later, an absolutely drenched Mr. Landis arrives. The children aren't pleased.

Nathan can't help but pick at Lucas. He's dying to know why he's palling around with Walden and what he was doing on Lee's motorcycle.

Landis borrows some of Joseph's clothes while his dry. He reveals that he was a music teacher and offered private lessons.

Angela plays him some Beethoven. As she's playing, he joins her so that he can teach her a thing about what he knows. Cooper finds it annoying, but Angela enjoys the instruction.

Nathan challenged Lucas to a race. Nathan on Sarge and Lucas on his new motorcycle. Elizabeth is worried. He's daring, adventurous. All he can do is wonder if she's coming to the race.

Angela starts playing what she wants, and the two play something full of mirth.

Minnie tells Elizabeth they had a wonderful time, and Elizabeth thinks she's kidding. Then she sees Landis, aka Augustus, teaching others piano in the saloon.

Rosemary and Lee get their wires crossed about who is covering the race, and Rosemary is saddened when Lee asks her to come home early tonight.

The race is on!

Once they're out of sight, everyone leaves the area, leaving them without spectators.

Lucas runs out of gas mid-race.

Landis will return to teaching. He has never had the stomach for being a bureaucrat, and he thanks her and the Canfields for reminding him what he loves.

Henry gives the kids some money to buy themselves some ice cream. Ned delivers Henry a telegram.

Nathan teases Lucas, who is left pushing his ride.

Henry isn't happy about Fiona's trip to San Francisco. They don't know what Jerome wants, but now they are tied to him with a 10% down payment, so they won't find out.

Bill is angered with Mike again for cavorting with Walden. Then he apologizes, assuring Mike he'll get a lot of heat for what he does and will probably even lose friends.

Lee wants to make more time for them outside of work. That finally turns the tide for Rosemary. He's been learning how to use his woodworking tools from Joseph. He has built them two Adirondack chairs.

The poem was for her. And she can look at the garden while he looks at the hills.

It's dusk by the time Lucas gets back to town. He looks like a chimney sweep. She has brought some water with lemon for him.

Lucas admits he loves adventure and gets restless. Elizabeth is the reason he stays.
