Fox Cheat Sheet: What Will Be Renewed?
By Paul Dailly
We're now into 2018 and the fate of some of Fox's series is becoming clearer.
Some of the newer series have emerged as rare success stories, but some of them have failed to garner much traction.
Below, we've rounded up Fox's roster of shows as well as what we think the network will do with them.
Empire - Certain Renewal
Empire has been trending downward since Season 2. Season 4 is off 30 percent vs. last season. It is averaging 5.8 million viewers and a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49. The show gets a decent boost of almost 60 percent with 7 days of DVR factored in, but the continued erosion has to be concerning for Fox. It still has a long way left to fall before being in any danger.
The Simpsons - Renewed
The Simpsons has benefited from a football lead-in multiple times this season. It is currently averaging 4.6 million viewers and a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49. It has already been renewed!
9-1-1 has been the surprise hit of the year. It is averaging 6.3 million viewers and a 1.7 rating. It gets a sizeable bump on the DVR front, and Fox has already renewed it.
Star - Certain Renewal
Fox gifted Star with a post-Empire slot this season and the show is currently up in the ratings. It is averaging 4.2 million viewers and a 1.4 rating. The show gets a modest boost on the DVR front, but its live ratings will keep it around.
The Orville - Renewed
Fox took a risk with this new Seth McFarlane series and it paid off. Season 1 is averaging 4.5 million viewers and a 1.3 rating. The show more than doubles when DVR ratings are factored in. It's such a hit that it has already snagged a renewal!
Bob's Burgers - Certain Renewal
Bob's Burgers is up double digits this season. It is averaging 3.1 million viewers and a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49. With a feature length move in the works, the series will stick around.
