Riverdale Murder Mystery: Ranking The Top 13 Killer Suspects

A murder most foul has been committed in the quiet town of Riverdale. The killer is still on the loose. But that looks to be changing on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 12.
Archie and friends are close to finding Jason Blossom's killer. In fact, we'll all be finding out the identity on Riverdale Season 1's penultimate episode. Who could it be?
Was it the powerful criminal Hiram Lodge? Could it be the mother of Jason's unborn child, Polly Cooper? Or might it be a family member hiding away in Thorn Hill? We will have a name!
We have ranked our Top 13 suspects as who could be the killer. Check out the list below for the analysis and share your thoughts in the comments.

1. Hal Cooper
Mr. Cooper comes in at the top of the list for his shady behavior. He is FURIOUS that Polly is carrying Jason Blossom's baby and he did try everything to hide the shame. There's a longstanding feud between the Coopers and the Blossoms, so resorting to murder isn't out of the question.
2. Hiram Lodge
The mysterious (and never seen) Mr. Lodge has already flexed his criminal power behind bars. The Blossoms sent him to jail and it would be the perfect retribution for an evil man like Hiram to strike the Blossom's family.
3. Clifford Blossom
It's now been proven that he is one of the last people to see Jason alive before his death. He acted strangely suspicious around the ring and it would be a great dishonor for Jason to have left. Plus, that white hair twist screams Twin Peaks!
4. Penelope Blossom
Similar to her husband Clifford, Penelope knows about Jason's final confrontation and there's always plenty of secrets lurking at Thorn Hill. What clinched her suspect status was her attitude when Alice revealed Polly's pregnancy on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 7. Penelope did not act shocked.
5. Polly Cooper
It's widely known that Polly was acting strange in the lead up to Jason's disappearance. Even her father expressed concern for Polly's behavior. Could Jason have gone to find her and she killed him because he changed his plans?
6. Joaquin
There's something off about Joaquin that doesn't sit right. He knows about Jason's involvement with the drugs, and he's using Kevin to get information on the case. Could he have killed Jason due to the drug debts?
7. Cheryl Blossom
Cheryl has a strange love for her twin brother; it's almost obsessive. While she helped Jason escape in the first place, her brother still kept plenty of secrets from her. Cheryl would take all the lies to heart.
8. Alice Cooper
Alice Cooper hates the Blossoms, and she hates that Polly dated Jason. She would do anything to protect her family's image, including getting rid of Jason.
9. FP Jones
While it's been confirmed that someone planted the gun on him on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 11, it doesn't clear him of everything. FP might still be involved through his association with the Southside Serpents. He is holding onto the jacket, after all.
10. Ms. Grundy
Ms. Grundy is known to have inappropriate relationships with her students. Jason Blossom was one of her past mentees. And she would do anything to keep her romantic life a secret, especially if someone like Jason had threatened it.
11. Hermione Lodge
Hermione is well aware of the shady dealings that her husband have conducted. In fact, she's helped them or justified them. Could she have killed Jason since her husband was busy with his trial?
12. "Dark Betty"
We need to talk about Dark Betty. Our favorite girl-next-door has a dark side to her that we've seen come out since Riverdale Season 1 Episode 3. With Jason causing all this trouble for her sister, this evil side may have retaliated against the Blossom boy.
13. A Twist (Someone New)
There's an easy way to eliminate all of the 12 suspects mentioned before, and didn't Sherlock Holmes once say something like, "When you've eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." Maybe we should be looking at characters like Fred, or Mayor McCoy, or even Sheriff Keller (as mentioned by TV Fanatic Jack Ori in the Riverdale Round Table for Riverdale Season 1 Episode 11)?
