We've got one major question going into The 100 Season 3 Episode 15, the first of the two-part season finale – what the heck does "perverse instantiation" mean?
After doing a bit of research (thank you, Google!), it appears that the phrase refers to a very specific type of problem with artificial intelligence. "Perverse instantiation" is a type of "malignant failure" in which the AI achieves its given command but does so in an unforeseen and destructive way.
Sound familiar?
ALIE's entire existence has been one giant problem of perverse instantiation that caused an actual nuclear apocalypse.
Now, after three separate missions to defeat ALIE failed on The 100 Season 3 Episode 14, time is running out, and ALIE's army is ever-growing. As the chipped army closes in on Clarke and the others, will Team Delinquents manage to defeat ALIE?
Perhaps joining up with old frenemy Roan will help. In these recently-released preview photos, we see Roan bound and surrounded by Clarke's crew and later we see Roan leading a bound Clarke before Jaha in Polis.
This juxtaposition seems to suggest that Clarke and Roan have teamed up to infiltrate Polis. But can Roan be trusted not to betray them?

While it's great to see Roan again after his long absence, we have so many questions. Where has Roan been? Is he chipped? Who captured him and how did they do it? We've seen people attempt to overpower Roan before and (except for Lexa) it's pretty much impossible.

Roan appears to be bound and gagged -- though the delinquents don't seem to be on high alert around him. Is Roan being cooperative?

Unlikely Allies - The 100 Season 3 Episode 15
Roan led Murphy and Clarke to the secret exit out of Polis in the midst of Ontari's coup but then essentially washed his hands of any debt owed to her. What side is Roan on now? And why is Clarke looking at him with the incredulous look on her face?

New Plan - The 100 Season 3 Episode 15
Clarke has her "I've got a plan" face on. Of course she has a plan -- she's Clarke. It may not be an easy or sane plan, but she's got one nonetheless.

Looks like whatever Clarke's big plan is, it doesn't require a portion of the group to come with them. Here it seems that she is hugging Monty goodbye as they set off to do whatever it is Clarke is planning.

Here we also see Bellamy apparently hugging Jasper goodbye. Looks like Bellamy is headed off with Clarke, on whatever her new mission might be. We can't say we're surprised -- Bellamy and Clarke are definitely a team.

This group, comprised of Jasper, Raven, Harper, and Monty, appear to be sticking around Arkadia while Bellamy, Clarke, Roan, and possibly Octavia embark on their new mission.

What's going on between Clarke and Raven here? Are they also sharing a farewell, or is this a more serious confrontation over Raven's failed move against ALIE on The 100 Season 3 Episode 14?

Raven has arguably suffered the most since ALIE rose to power. Now, after escaping ALIE's control and making her own moves against ALIE, Raven has reemerged as a power player, and with her computer prowess, there's no doubt she'll play a significant role in taking down the rogue AI.

Bellamy appears to be having a private conversation with an unseen someone. Who is he speaking with? What are they talking about?

Jonty Reunion - The 100 Season 3 Episode 15
Jasper and Monty have fallen out this season, but perhaps in the remaining two installments they will make amends. Hey, at the very least, they can stand being next to one another now.

Working Together - The 100 Season 3 Episode 15
Octavia and Roan -- that's an interesting team-up. Since it appears that Roan is cooperating with the group to take down ALIE, we guess these two will be working side by side. Will strong-willed Octavia and enigmatic Roan butt heads or get along on this mission?

All Part of the Plan...? - The 100 Season 3 Episode 15
So, is this all part of the plan concocted by the group with Roan's help? Or has Roan spontaneously turned on Clarke?

Captured - The 100 Season 3 Episode 15
Yikes. Roan's got a knife to Clarke's throat, and we're very worried about her. Though Roan has proven semi-reliable and reluctant to grievously injure Clarke in the past, we still know very little about this guy and his true motives.

Side-Eye - The 100 Season 3 Episode 15
Clarke is throwing Roan a little bit of side-eye, almost as if to say "C'mon, man, you're playing this role a bit too well -- ease up on the knife!" Then again, this could be Clarke's reaction to Roan actually turning on her. We'll just have to tune in and find out which it is.
16.
Reunited with Jaha - The 100 Season 3 Episode 15
Uh-oh! Looks like Roan has brought Clarke straight to the former Chancellor. Jaha seems to be requesting something from Roan or Clarke. Perhaps he's asking them to hand over the second AI, which ALIE has been desperate to retrieve. She knows it's the only thing that can stop her.
