As long as Elena is NOT DEAD, fans will never, ever let the topic truly rest and all shipping wars will continue. Elena fans will wish Bonnie dead and hold out hope that in the finale their dreams will come true. Delena/Stelena forever.

Bamon. Staroline. New couples we don't even know about yet. Let's be real. This is a show about angst and drama in which vampires and werewolves and witches happen to play a part. There will always be room for shippers of all couples. And speaking of Bonnie...

Now that Elena's out of the way, Bonnie Bennett will finally get a storyline where she's not just the witch the gang calls in to save the day when they can't figure out how to do it themselves. Or that better be what happens. (Also, Kat Graham has the best job security of anyone on the show right now thanks to the Bonnie-Elena link.)

So we've been off the doppelganger bandwagon for a while now on TVD, but with Elena gone, we absolutely cannot have any more Petrovas showing up in Mystic Falls OR New Orleans. Good.
