Smash Casts Jeremy Jordan, Star of Newsies, as Series Regular

Jeremy Jordan is tap dancing his way to NBC.

The Tony Award-nominated star of Newsies has been cast as a series regular on Smash, coming on board Season 2 as a “Brooklyn-born singer with a self-destructive” side, according to TV Line.

Smash, of course, partially cleaned house last month, bidding farewell to Jaime Cepero (Ellis), Raza Jaffrey (Dev) and Brian D’Arcy James (Frank).

Aside from Jordan’s role, they will be replaced by two more new characters: a gay Broadway hopeful and a female African-American chorus member.
