Special Ops: Lioness Season 1 Episode 7 Recap: Wish The Fight Away

At their headquarters, Joe, Kaitlyn, and Byron are fielding calls about the details of Aaliyah's wedding. Joe hears from Bobby that Cruz is moving toward New York City and calls in Kyle to assist after telling the team to return to base to regroup.

The trio continues to plan for hypotheticals, pushing to keep everything as covert as possible in hopes they don't start a war but have everything covered in Majorca.

In New York City, Aaliyah and Cruz discuss her upcoming wedding, Aaliyah explaining that she knows very few details about the actual event itself, including the date. Either way, she needs to shop urgently and ignores the potential issues that could arise, like kidnapping or harm. Instead, she promises to show Cruz the luxurious world she's privy to.

Cruz and Aaliyah shop with personal shoppers, an experience Cruz is clearly unfamiliar with. As they sip champagne and try things on, Aaliyah asks Cruz about their kiss earlier. She says it's all she's been thinking about and Cruz agrees, she's thought about it too. Alone in the dressing room, Cruz and Aaliyah get close to going further but are interrupted by a salesperson. Aaliyah offers to take Cruz somewhere more private, and she agrees quickly.

Kyle watches from outside, moving when Cruz begins to. Aaliyah has them taken back to a large hotel. When they're finally left alone, there's no talking to be done. Cruz and Aaliyah quickly strip down, heading to the bedroom where Kyle can hear them together, acting on every impulse they've been feeling for weeks.

Kyle calls Joe, letting her know they're all squared away but sharing that he's been listening to Cruz and Aaliyah have sex for several hours.

Cruz gets out of bed and heads into the bathroom, breaking down in tears as the gravity of what's happened hits her. She texts Joe, who grabs Bobby and heads out quickly to New York.

Aaliyah finds Cruz clothed and in the living room, where she's heading out for a walk. Aaliyah asks if she's returning, and Cruz says she doesn't know because their relationship has no future. Aaliyah's security asks if he should follow her, but she declines and says to let Cruz go. Cruz heads down to Kyle's room where Joe arrives shortly thereafter.

Cruz says she feels like she's in love with Aaliyah, and Joe moves quickly. She lays it out for Cruz plainly that she knows it feels like love from Aaliyah's end, especially with what Cruz has dealt with in the past. She explains that Aaliyah is just Cruz as her last hurrah before she's married and stuck in a role, even if it feels like more. Joe asks Cruz to give her a week, then this can all be finished.

Feeling less overwhelmed, Cruz heads back to Aaliyah's room where she's been waiting, flooded with nerves. Aaliyah asks what she did wrong, and the two talk briefly before Cruz turns off the audio device she has on her for Joe and the team to listen in. She says she can't go to Majorca and to watch Aaliyah get given away by her father.

Joe realizes she turned off the transmitter and is immediately convinced she's purposefully outing herself to Cruz, blowing their operation entirely.

As Joe prepares to head upstairs and extract Cruz, Aaliyah explains her father won't be at the wedding anyway, as it would be suicide for him to be seen in public. He's only ever at their compound, hidden from the world. Cruz flips the transmitter back on and tells Aaliyah they must call things off.

Aaliyah says it's harder, she's decided, to feel love just once than to never feel it at all. She tearfully lets Cruz know she'll be leaving in the morning and would like her to come and attend the wedding. Cruz accepts, then leaves the hotel to meet Joe and Kyle.

Cruz and Joe arrive back at the base and head to Kaitlyn's makeshift office where she reassures them she didn't get her cover blown. Cruz tells them Aaliyah said her father won't be at the wedding, but Joe says that's what she's trained to say. They press Cruz for more information until she breaks down, fearful she can't handle the mission.

Joe gives Cruz a pep talk, doing her best to be comforting and empowering, real and honest. Joe tells Cruz to go get some rest. Kaitlyn and Joe discuss the fact that a missile strike may be their only course of action, both aware that it would be lethal for everyone at the wedding. After discussing it gravely, Joe leaves to head home and see Kate, who's coming home from the hospital today.

Joe makes it home to greet Kate, who's as positive as she can be for an immobile fourteen-year-old, and they get her set up in her new living room hospital bed. Joe asks Kate to forgive her for having to leave. Kate is upset, saying she doesn't want Neil to have to bathe her or help her use the bathroom, and Joe explains they have a nurse coming to help while she's away for the week. Kate is harsh but asks Joe if the place she's going is dangerous or if she could be killed. Joe affirms, but promises she'll try to come back. The two share a tearful moment, exchanging "I love you"'s before Joe leaves.

Neil follows Joe upstairs and comforts her as she says she can't do this anymore, that she'll be putting in for a desk job as soon as this is finished. Neil says to make that decision later when her emotions aren't attached, but Joe says the decision's been made. Neil asks if this is going to be a bad one, and Joe affirms. When she heads down the stairs, Joe finds Charlie crying on the stairs. Charlie says everyone's crying and she doesn't understand why, and Joe comforts her, saying they're all a bunch of softies who are just happy Kate is home.

The team gathers at the airport, including Kaitlyn and Kyle, all boarding a private jet with their gear. Joe sits across from Cruz and shows her a file filled with every terrorist attack that Aaliyah's father can be linked to. Joe explains she won't be able to go through all the material on the file, but she'd like her to try in order to ensure she remembers why she's a part of this mission.

Bobby debriefs on the possible site of the Amrohi wedding, explaining that it's a logistical nightmare as Kaitlyn tries to understand the best approach. Cruz begins watching the videos on the file, growing more grave as she continues on.
