This time last year, the Suits franchise was dead and buried, and now we’ve got a lead star who can potentially draw viewers to the LA spinoff coming to NBC!
Now, thanks to the power of streaming, everyone’s talking about the original series again.
The legal drama broke countless Nielsen streaming records earlier this year, leading to renewed interest in the property.

With a new series set in the Suits universe officially announced, details are beginning to trickle out.
Below, we’ve rounded up everything we know about the project.

Does the Suits Spinoff Have a Title?
Details were scarce when the series was announced to be in development in mid-2023.
Suits Cast: Where Are They Now?
Just as we predicted, the new series will be called Suits: LA. Maybe they will build a franchise in other cities. Who knows?
Suits LA: What’s the Plot?

Variety reported the following synopsis and logline. Former federal prosecutor Ted Black will lead the ensemble after reinventing himself by representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles.
“His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive, he must embrace a role he has held in contempt his entire career.
“Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives.
“All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved,” reads the logline.

Earlier, it was promised the new series would “have the same energy and good-looking people that the original did,” according to Variety.
We’re not too sure how to feel about that statement because it makes it sound like the show was purely about good-looking people.
We were attracted to Suits because of its unique concept and well-developed characters. If the new show focuses on casting people based on their looks rather than their talent, we’re already set up for disaster.
“It’s so fun and happy,” Springborn added of the new entry in the franchise. The good news is that Springborn said the show would need “great storytelling and great characters to work.”

This will not be a reboot or a revival but rather a series set in the same universe, in a different city, with different characters. Whether there are any ties with Suits will remain to be seen.
“So how do you do something that can be ongoing, have a gloss to it, and be a continuing series that everyone wants?” We’ll keep this page updated with new details as they become available, so please bookmark it to remain in the loop.
Will Any of the Original Suits Cast Appear in the Spinoff?
When news broke of the project’s existence, there was undoubtedly a desire from fans — new and old — to check back in with some of their beloved characters.

The new show’s setting in L.A. is worlds away from what we’ve watched on the show before.
We spent nine seasons of Suits and one season of Pearson on the East Coast, so the location change will be a significant shift.
What to Watch If You Love Suits
Obviously, things can change, but most of our favorite characters were still in New York by the end of Suits Season 9.
When the series was announced, there was word that it wouldn’t be focused on any returning cast members.

That doesn’t rule out cameos because, for many people, it would be a big no-no to bring the universe back with no reference to the original cast.
Our best guess is that we’ll see some original faces down the line, and their arrival could lead to new stories in the original universe.
The pilot isn’t expected to feature any of the older cast, but Suits star Patrick J Adams mentioned at the Golden Globes that if he got the call, he’d be willing to suit up again. That’s excellent news!
We will keep this post updated with any details as they come about.

We can’t help but note that including the original cast members, especially after it broke records on Netflix during 2023, would be an incredible feat for the new NBC show should it be picked up.
It would also get a lot of eyes on the new project.
Many people think that Suits became a success story because of Netflix, but it pulled in solid ratings on USA Network for its first seven seasons. That was a big deal back then.
Suits Spinoff Cast: Who’s In?

Great news for Suits: LA. Stephen Amell has landed the lead as Ted Black, a charismatic force of nature who puts his own needs above others. Amell has the chops for this role after playing Oliver Queen in Arrow and Jack Spade in Heels.
The man has charisma for miles, and even better — he looks good in a suit!
Production begins in March, so we expect a lot more casting news to begin pouring in over the coming weeks!
Suits LA Status: Has it Been Picked Up?
Yes, the spinoff has been picked up to series, but we don’t know when it will premiere.

As we previously reported, Suits was too big last year for eager outlets to pass up the opportunity to usher in its next generation.
On February 1, 2023, Deadline reported that things were shaping up nicely for a pilot order, and they’d tapped a director for it, Victoria Mahoney, who has directed episodes of Queen Sugar, Grey’s Anatomy, Lovecraft Country, and The Morning Show, among others.
About an hour later, the major outlets dropped the news that it had indeed been picked up, and filming would begin that March in Vancouver, which would act as a stand-in for Los Angeles (the irony, right?).
On August 1, 2024, the news dropped that the LA stand-in had been replaced—LA will now film in LA! Hopefully, that means we’ll see some outdoor scenes featuring the city. Let’s showcase the US for itself for a change!
While many networks are eager to move beyond the pilot system, NBC still went with a pilot for this one despite Suits’ popularity on Netflix. And it worked out!

Now, we hope the creatives have created a deserving story to continue the universe. There’s nothing worse than a show riding on the coattails of another with little reason for existing.
Pearson was a very good spinoff that differed in many ways from Suits, but it launched as Suits was falling into oblivion after the exits of Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams.
Had Pearson launched a few years earlier, it would have been a much bigger success story.
Where Will the Suits Spinoff Air?
NBC will be the home for Suits: LA. We expect Peacock will be the home of new episodes after they air on NBC.

Whether Suits: LA will be better than the proposed and scrapped LA Law pilot and possible revival that was on the table in 2021, we will never know.
Suits Streaming Success Leads to Franchise Expansion
Suits: LA seems like the best of both worlds in light of Suit’s Netflix success.
LA Law is currently airing on Hulu, and it would have been interesting to see how the two shows would have fared together on Netflix.
It’s such a juggernaut with viewers, and the ’90s are so fascinating to a new generation that you can’t help but wish for all old series to debut there.

When Will Suits LA Premiere?
The fall schedule is already locked in place, so the earliest we expect Suits: LA to premiere would be early in 2025.
If they have faith in the series, it may be saved for fall 2025, but January debuts often have great success, and if NBC wants a successful launch, they should consider it.
Is There a Trailer for the Suits Spinoff?
If you’ve gotten this far, you know the answer. But, there is a first look photo, which you can see all the way at the top of this article.

Again, we’ll update this post with all the information as it becomes available.
As Harvey Specter once said, “I think that said it all, don’t you?”
