Some stories come to a natural conclusion, and it looks like that will be the case for Mike and Rachel on USA Network's Suits.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, both Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle are poised to exit the hit legal drama after seven years.
The cabler is apparently close to ironing out a deal that would allow the long-running series to go on for an eighth season without both of the actors.
There has been much speculation about the actors leaving for some time now, but it appears likely to be a done deal.
Both Adams and Markle have been with the series since its pilot, and their love story has kept viewers tuning in every single week.
If you watch Suits online, you will know that despite several hurdles, they always find their way back to each other. All that's left to bring their storyline full circle is a wedding.
According to the report, the duo filmed a wedding scene on the show's set in Toronto over the weekend. Wouldn't it be the perfect to say goodbye to them after they finally tied the knot?
Their wedding has become a running gag over the years when you consider how often they have spoken about it without it becoming a reality.
It's difficult to imagine the show without these two characters because they have been such an integral part since the beginning.
All roads lead back to Pearson Specter Litt, and there has to be a more worthy story than the two of them just deciding to skip town and start off somewhere else.
Would there be any plausible way to even continue the show in their absence? If anything, this news will push Harvey and Donna further apart because the odds the only duo left on the show could get together if Mike and Rachel are out of the picture seem very remote.
The report also states that Adams could return in a limited capacity beyond Suits Season 7, but there's also the possibility that it could be in the director's chair. We may never see him as Mike again.
Suits remains as one of the network's highest-rated original series. Suits Season 7 is currently averaging 1.5 million viewers and a 0.4 rating among adults 18-49.
That means it is the second most-watched scripted series on the network behind only The Sinner, which is still awaiting news on its fate.
Over to you, Suits Fanatics! What do you think of this news?
Would it be best just to wrap up the series and launch the Gina Torres-fronted spinoff?
