Tim Daly News

Tim Daly (born March 1, 1956) is a screen and voice actor and producer born in New York City who began his professional career at Vermont's Bennington College, where he studied theater and literature.

His first leading film role was in the film Diner, which also launched the careers of some of today's most respected actors, such as Kevin Bacon. Big roles soon followed in Alan Rudolph's feature, Made in Heaven, the American Playhouse production of The Rise & Rise of Daniel Rocket, and the CBS drama series, Almost Grown.

Daly starred in Broadway's production of Coastal Disturbances by playwright Tina Howe, Oliver, Oliver at the Manhattan Theatre Club, Mass Appeal by Bill C. Davis and Bus Stop by William Inge at Trinity Square Repertory, The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams, A Knife in the Heart and A Study in Scarlet and Paris Bound.

Tim is perhaps best known for his role as straight-laced pilot Joe Hackett on the long-running NBC sitcom Wings. He has also made several appearances on The Sopranos as J.T. Dolan, an old friend of Christopher Moltisanti.

He also appeared on the midseason ABC crime series Eyes, which got good reviews but was canceled after only five episodes.

Daly is also known as the voice of Superman in Superman: The Animated Series, and as the star of a remake of the 1960s classic TV drama The Fugitive, which aired for only one season (2000-2001).

In 2006, Daly starred as Nick Cavanaugh in the ABC Drama, The Nine, which was cancelled despite critical acclaim. But in 2007, Daly got another shot from ABC as a new love interest for Kate Walsh (Addison Montgomery) on the new Grey's Anatomy spinoff, Private Practice.

Daly and his wife, actress Amy Van Nostrand have two children, and have both won DramaLogue Awards for Best Actress and Best Actor in the Coast Playhouse's The Colorado Catechism by Vincent J. Cardinal in L.A.

They have been married since 1982.
