Anthony's father Luke tries to explain why the report was inappropriate. Anthony flashes back to a house under construction into which he'd broken. The family disects Anthony's report at dinner. Luke blames Henry, who spends so much time with Anthony. Anthony thinks there's someone outside their house. Henry gives Anthony a photo of his recently deceased wife Maggie. Henry has arranged a treasure hunt for Anthony, with clues hidden about town. Anthony's parents are divorcing. Luke is dating Anthony's teacher, while Helen is dating a colleague. Luke and Helen sign their divorce papers. Anthony's prize is a set of encyclopedias. Henry chastises Helen about the divorce. Anthony solves the first clue and finds the second at Maggie's grave. It's taking longer than expected for Anthony to complete the treasure hunt, and his parents are getting worried. Henry and Helen follow the hunt route in reverse. Anthony has disappeared between the grave and the next stop, the church. They call the police. An officer keeps suggesting Anthony ran away because of the divorce. Everyone is getting frustrated with the police's questions. A cop finds Anthony's bike and camera in the woods. Henry's friend Lt. Susan Bowden is put in charge of the case.
