Veronica Mars Revival Inches Closer to Reality

Veronica Mars could soon be making another comeback.

Per Deadline, a revival of the cult hit is in the works, but this one will not be airing on broadcast television.

Instead, the new series would stream on Hulu. That means fans will not have to worry about searching for the latest ratings, or footing the bill for another movie.

The shocking report claims that the series is very close to becoming a reality, and that leading lady Kristen Bell will be back as the titular character.

It's like a gift from the TV gods, you guys!

With Bell definitely returning, there is word that negotiations are underway to bring back a string of Bell's costars.

Rather than being an ongoing series, the Hulu version is said to be an eight-episode limited one, and that could be down to the fact that Bell being super busy with NBC's equally as entertaining The Good Place.

Oh, and we can't forget that she's a successful movie star, either. Bell is probably one of the most in-demand actresses out there, and for good reason.

She's a great actress, and her portrayal of the private eye resonated with viewers. The series started its life at UPN and lasted there for two seasons.

Its fate was up in the air when it was announced that UPN and The WB were merging to form The CW.

It was given a last-minute reprieve and a third season was ordered. However, the ratings were not what The CW expected, and it was placed on hiatus, before returning for what would be the final episodes.

Despite fan campaigns, The CW maintained that the private eye was not returning to the network in any form. The series finale aired in 2007.

In 2013, series creator Rob Thomas and Bell started a Kickstarter campaign which helped fund a movie continuation, and it was released the following year.

Despite all being quiet on the Veronica Mars front since — aside from a few novels — there has been constant chatter that a revival was in the works.

The report certainly makes it sound like the new series will be a go shortly, and we can't wait to see what's in store!

Will Veronica and Logan still be a thing?
