Gypsy: Naomi Watts Makes Promises She May Not Keep in Netflix Teaser

at .

Netflix announced today that its newest summer series, Gypsy, will debut globally on the service on June 30th.

Gypsy is a ten-part psychological thriller that follows Jean Halloway (Naomi Watts), a Manhattan therapist with a seemingly picturesque life who begins to develop intimate and illicit relationships with the people in her patients' lives.

The teaser lends insight into how she may go about that, by lying through her teeth!

Hey, maybe not, but while Jean is talking directly into the camera, promising to do no harm, she's also skulking around harming by way of some pretty intense and sexy interaction with what appear to be her patients.

As the borders of Jean's professional life and personal fantasies become blurred, she descends into a world where the forces of desire and reality are disastrously at odds.

Gypsy was written by Hollywood newcomer, Lisa Rubin. The series is directed by Fifty Shades Of Grey's Sam Taylor Johnson among others.

In addition to Watts, Gypsy also stars Billy Crudup (Spotlight) as Jean's husband Michael Halloway, Sophie Cookson (Kingsman) as Sydney, Lucy Boynton (Murder on the Orient Express) as Jean's patient Allison, and Karl Glusman (Nocturnal Animals) as Jean's patient Sam.

Gypsy is produced by Working Titles' Liza Chasin, Lisa Rubin, Naomi Watts and Rudd Simmons.

Netflix does series well, and Naomi Watts is someone I've always wanted to see in a longer than two-hour format, so this should be interesting.

And perhaps very, very naughty.

What do you think? Are you in?

Netflix Quotes

Jack: Alyssa is not Salvador!
Vera: She knows all our strengths and all our weaknesses. That makes her exceedingly dangerous.
Jack: Why do you hate her so much?
[Vera stares at him]
Vera: Mr. Morton, you’re relieved from temple duties until further notice.
Jack: You’re benching me?!
Vera: Your infatuation has become a liability.
[Vera walks away]
Jack: Yeah, well, you’re welcome for saving your life!
Vera: I said, “Thank you.”

I do not exist. I exist only if the motherland exists.
