Rise Trailer: The New Friday Night Lights?!

at .

Rise is coming to NBC in March, and it sure looks like it could be the new Friday Night Lights

The show is created by Jason Katims who was the creative force behind the former series, so that could explain why the official trailer reminds us of that show.

The series follows a man who takes over the school's horrific theater department and sets about striving for a whole lot of change from the students at the school.

It's evident he wants the pupils to succeed, and clearly, he thinks a good theater department will be instrumental in making that happen.

It stars How I Met Your Mother's Josh Radnor as the teacher, so this role will be a fun change of pace from his previous gig on the CBS comedy series.

The series is scheduled to debut after the season finale of This Is Us on March 13 at 10/9c. After that, it will succeed This Is Us and air at 9/8c.

If first impressions are everything, then we have to say that Rise has piqued our interest. It reminds us of the good old days of Friday Night Lights, and that's always a good thing.

NBC Quotes

Jake: Ms. Fulton, hello, I'm Detective Peralta. I know you're nervous about talking to a cop, which I totally get, but rest assured, I'm one of the good ones. And I know how that sounds, but I'm not one of the bad ones who says they're one of the good ones; I'm actually one of the good ones who says they're one of the good ones. And I know how that sounds --
Ms. Fulton: Does he just keep going until someone stops him?
Jake and Rosa: Yes.

Now I know you're telling the truth because no one would ever lie about doing something that heartless.
