While fans still must wait months and months for season three of True Blood to premiere, creator Alan Ball has dropped various hints about it for weeks now.

For starters, he says a werewolf named Alcide will be featured prominently on the new season of the HBO smash. The search for an actor to play this role - along with two other new characters, one of whom reveals a spoiler about the series - got underway this week.

Here's a description of the trio of newbies set to invade Bon Temps in the summer of 2010:

Alcide: Good-looking, rough-around-the-edges, articulate, heroic, and decent, but not what he seems. He gets along well with Sookie. There’s even an attraction between the two. Very strong recurring.

Hollis: A fortysomething African-American; a bouncer in a bar. Resembles an NFL lineman, but is a nice guy that is familiar with Alcide; is suspicious of Sookie.

Anonymous obstetrician: For Arlene. Way to go, Terry!
