David Hasselhoff: Leaving America's Got Talent

at .

It doesn't exactly have the resonance of Paula Abdul leaving American Idol, but David Hasselhoff is walking away from his gig as a judge on America's Got Talent.

Along with Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne, he had served on the panel for four years.

Said Hasselhoff in a statement:

“I am proud that I was part of making America’s Got Talent the No. 1 rated show for the past four summers. It’s been a rewarding experience and now I’m thrilled to be able to follow my dream to do my own TV show, which will be announced very shortly.

“I want to thank my friend, (executive producer) Simon Cowell, and everyone at NBC and Fremantle for the opportunity for four great years.”

No details on the actor's next project have been released yet.

“David’s been an integral part of the success of America’s Got Talent and we are sad to see him go. We wish him all the best with his new show," NBC said in a statement.

A search for his replacement will soon get underway. Got any recommendations?

I’m writing in the paper that Kingfisher is on the verge of bankruptcy … which it is. The next morning, I get slapped with two lawsuits from Natey Flint. He takes out a liable suit against the Sunrise Herald and a one-million-dollar liable suit against me.

Stacey: Do you know of any fires in this area?
Frank Kovick: There was one in ’41.
Stacey: There was one in ’41? Where?
Frank Kovick: In Sunrise.
Stacey: Sunrise…
Frank Kovick: It was huge, it destroyed most of the town.
Stacey: Really?!
Frank Kovick: Founders Day fire. They called it the “Miracle Fire” because nobody died.
