With neither of its heavily-promoted scripted shows (Smash and Awake) burning up the ratings, NBC is doubling down on its reality programming.

The network announced today that it will expand The Voice by an extra night, starting with live episodes on April 2. These will air for two hours on Mondays and then eliminations will take place during a one-hour results show on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST.

NBC has also moved up The Voice's season finale. A winner will now be crowned on May 8.

This move was made to accommodate America's Got Talent and premiere Howard Stern as a judge on that competition during May Sweeps. He'll make his first appearance alongside Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne on May 14.
