HBO has released some major True Blood Season 6 casting news.

Karolina Wydra - best known for briefly playing Dominika, Gregory House's wife on House - will recur this summer on the network hit as a vampire named Violet.

According to TV Line, the Polish actress will portray an especially strong and fearsome member of the undead, someone sources describe as "on par with the Eric Northmans and Bill Comptons of the world."

Wydra joins new True Blood cast members that include Rutger Hauer, Arliss Howard, Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Amelia Rose Blaire on Season 6.

Brian Buckner, meanwhile, has taken over as showrunner.
