Last week, the new epic pirate drama Black Sails premiered on Starz.

It brought in big numbers and became the most widely watched series premiere in the pay cabler's original programming history.

More than 2.6 million overall viewers tuned in throughout opening weekend, with that number rising to an estimated 3.5 million when factoring in on-demand, online platforms and affiliate linear airings, per a Starz press release.

TV Fanatic chatted with the cast members of Black Sails - which was given an early Season 2 renewal last summer - at New York Comic Con and found out more about each of their characters and the challenges in shooting the pirate drama.
