TV Ratings Report: The Vampire Diaries Crashes, Reign Flops

at .

Three new shows, three disappointing results on Thursday night.

On Fox, Gracepoint only brought in 4.8 million million viewers and a 1.2 rating among 18-49-year olds.

On NBC, Bad Judge nabbed 5.9 million viewers and a 1.3 rating in the same demographic, while A to Z suffered through 4.8 million viewers. These are lower figures than the Sean Saves the World opener from a year ago… and that sitcom didn’t last a full season.

Elsewhere, ABC’s Shonda Rhimes-infused lineup held strong. Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 Episode 2 started the night with 9.1 million viewers; Scandal Season 4 Episode 2 held steady at 10.4 million; and How to Get Away with Murder dropped a bit, but still beat them both with 11.8 million.

News for The CW, meanwhile, was MUCH worse:

  • The Vampire Diaries Season 6 returned to 1.8 million total viewers and a 0.9 demo rating, up 13 percent from its May finale... yet down 30 and 25 percent from its previous premiere. Ouch.
  • Reign Season (1.3 million and a 0.4) was down 35 and 50 percent from its October 2013 opener, but even with its freshman finale.
