It's a topsy turvy world when the Author rewrites everyone's stories so that the villains will finally get their happy endings in Once Upon a Time Season 4 Episode 23. But do things turn out as planned?
When his entire family disappears, Henry tracks down the Author and uses the key and the book to dive into the story to save them. The Author has to follow in order to stop Henry and keep his own happy ending as best selling author in the real world.
Henry must play hero in this world as he rescues Emma from her prison tower and tries to convince Regina to stop Robin Hood's wedding to Zelena. But Snow White is out to kill them all and Hook sacrifices himself in the hopes of getting Emma and her son back to the real world where they can all be together.
The Author convinces Rumpel that the only way to keep his happy marriage and status as a hero is to kill Regina and Henry. Instead of breaking up the wedding, Regina sacrifices herself to save her son when it appears Rumpel is about to kill him.
That's when Henry grabs the author's quill and it glows. Henry is meant to be the new Author and he rewrites the ending of the story to send them all back home.
