CW failed to get some Christmas cheer in the ratings as The Vampire Diaries and The Originals both said goodbye to Thursdays on a low note.
The Vampire Diaries Season 7 Episode 9 started of the night with just 1.2 million viewers and a 0.5 rating. The Originals dropped from last week's season high to 1 million and a 0.4 rating.
Will these two once hot shows be able to stay even on Friday nights? Probably not, but stranger things have happened.
And elsewhere around the dial:
- On CBS, The Big Bang Theory (16 million, 4.0 rating), Life In Pieces (9.6 million/2.4 rating), Mom (8.2 million/2.0 rating), 2 Broke Girls (7 million/1.9 rating) and Elementary (6.2 million/1.3 rating) all ticked up.
- On Fox, Bones (4.5 million/0.9 rating) said goodbye to 2015 with a slight dip.
- On ABC, Toy Story at 20 (3.3 million/0.9 rating), led into Toy Story (3.1 million/1.0 rating).
- And on NBC, Michael Buble's Christmas (7.2 million/1.1 rating) and Dolly Parton (12.9/1.8 rating) pulled in solid ratings.
