The Breaking Bad movie has been shrouded in secrecy ever since it was officially ordered a few months ago.

Thankfully, additional details are starting to trickle out, and it's becoming clear that this movie will be a sequel to the 2008-2013 hit TV series.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the reports, and there's a big actor from the original series returning.

Aaron Paul, who played Walter White's (Bryan Cranston) right-hand man Jesse Pinkman will lead the cast of the project.

The report even states that Netflix will take the first-run rights to the movie, meaning AMC would be able to air the movie after Netflix.

It's certainly a big move, especially when you consider the fact that AMC's relationship with Netflix was instrumental to the original show's success.

When the movie was revealed in November, details were scarce, saying that it “will be set in the existing Breaking Bad franchise,” and that it would revolve around “the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom.”

Breaking Bad got off to a rough start when it launched on AMC in 2008. Its first season did not set the ratings on fire.

It starred Cranston as a chemistry teacher named Walter White who opted to manufacture meth after learning that he had cancer.

It snagged 16 Emmy wins during its run and spawned a spinoff titled Better Call Saul which remains a hit to this day for AMC.

The decision to make this movie a sequel will likely go down well with fans who have been clamoring for more since the show came to a close in 2013.

There's still no word on whether Cranston could pop up as Walter White, but given that the character died at the end of the show's television run, it's unlikely.

It is possible, however, that he could appear in a flashback, but time will tell.

Breaking Bad creator, Vince Gilligan is on board to pen the script for the movie. It's good knowing the original creative force will be back at the helm.
