Joseph M'Benga is a male human Starfleet officer and physician. He is the chief medical officer aboard the USS Enterprise under the command of Christopher Pike.
He has a daughter, Rukiya, whose incurable cygnokemia forced him to allow her to join a sentient non-corporeal lifeform they met in the Jonesian Nebula so that she could live on despite her body's degeneration.
During the Klingon War, he was stationed on the moon of J'Gal and witnessed terrible war crimes committed by the Klingon generals.
He is considered one of the crew's best hand-to-hand combatants, training in a variety of disciplines.
He likes to fish when on shore leave.
