Nyota Uhura

Nyota Uhura is a translator and communications officer aboard the USS Enterprise under the command of Captain Christopher Pike.

She originally joined the crew as a cadet, winning a position in recognition of exemplary work at the academy and her prodigy-level ability with linguistics. Despite being unsure of whether she truly wanted to pursue a career in Starfleet, she develops a close bond with the crew, especially Chief Engineer Hemmer. She is devastated by his tragic death.

After her time as a cadet ends, she chooses to remain with the Enterprise and is promoted to Ensign.
