Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders) is initially introduced as a potential love interest for Ted and his eventual girlfriend. However, after the break up and before they decide to date, Robin is a friend in the group.
Robin is a news anchor for Metro News 1 until she quits and becomes an anchor out in Japan. Once she quits that job and returns to New York she is currently unemployed.
Robin is from Canada where she used to play hockey growing up and even had a big pop song as a teenage stars. She also enjoys guns and cigars.
Ted: You know what? I'm done being single, I'm not good at it. Look, obviously you can't tell a woman you just met that you love her, but it sucks that you can't. I'll tell you something though, if a woman, not you, just some hypothetical woman, were to bear with me through all this, I think I'd make a damn good husband, because that's the stuff I'd be good at. Stuff like making her laugh and being a good father and walking her five hypothetical dogs. Being a good kisser...
Robin: Everyone thinks they're a good kisser.
Ted: Oh, I've got references
Robin: I still say this is stupid. What happened to, "As we mature, the relationship matures with us?"
Marshall: That's just something Lily read in Psychology Today. Alright, she read it in Cosmo. Alright, I read it in Cosmo. Alright, it was CosmoGirl!
