Makee is in Reach and she and John try to come to terms with what happened.

They grow closer and wind up having sex.

They are connected by their tie to the other world.

However, Makee worries that the humans are not worthy of ascending to this other place and that they will be "cleansed."

John wants her to understand that humans are worth saving, even if they do bad things.

Halsey learns that she is being let go from the planet and schemes her way to get closer to Makee and John.

However, Makee doesn't listen to her.

Admiral says Makee can touch the device because they need to get this completed.

Halsey puts a plan in motion to get the other Spartans to take Makee and John, but Kai helps John defeat them in a shocking fight for survival.

In the end, Makee is attacked by a guard and it reminds her of the humans attacking her all those years ago, so she touches the artifact.

Inside it, she says goodbye to John because she knows humans are not to be trusted.

We're left with several people in danger and Makee nowhere to be found.
