After Izzy yells at her, Hilde leaves the school and walks home alone but when her parents get home, she isn’t there. 

 

Matt keeps remembering Richie as he searches for Hilde. He finds Hilde’s journal on the side of the road but she’s no where to be found. 

 

Upset when they can’t find Hilde, Izzy tells her mother everything that happened in the girls bathroom. Bridget is proud of her for standing up for her sister and promises that Hilde will be okay. 

 

Frank calls Trip to ask her to help him find Sam before he has to officially report it. Frank calls Bridget to tell her Sam has escaped and she tells him that Hilde is also missing. For fear of the police shooting Sam, and Hilde getting caught in the crossfire, they agree not to call the Sheriff’s office. Frank, Trip, Kim, Carol (Kim’s mom), Matt and Bridget start a search in the area where Matt found Hilde’s journal. 

 

But Matt calls Agent Atkins from the FBI for help and hides it from Bridget. She’s angry when she finds out. 

 

Turns out that Hilde is following Sam even though he begs her to leave him and go home. She brings him back to her shed where Sylvester wanders in and, not knowing what’s happening, he unlocks Sam’s chains and gives him clothes. Sylvester thinks it’s the night Richie Fife disappeared and tells Sam he thinks it has something to do with a man with a “Sinner” tattoo.

 

Sheriff Briggs gets a call from prison saying that Sam Gillis has not returned. Briggs grabs his guns and calls a manhunt for the fugitive.  When the Sheriff finds Frank, he suspends him. 

 

Sam and Hilde head to the old airport. Sam just wants to relive a memory he had with his father. He doesn’t believe his father killed himself years earlier n a plane crash, he thinks there was something wrong with the plane and the company covered it up. Matt and the Sheriff’s officers arrive. The Sheriff is about to shoot Sam when Frank steps in front of his gun. Then Trip runs out and convinces Sam to turn himself in. 

 

Hilde is devastated because she believes Sam will be hurt by the Sheriff’s officers. When Hilde asks Matt questions about Richie Fife and says that Sam thought someone in his family was abusing him, he shuts her down. Matt tells Bridget that looking into Richie Fife has to stop.
