Recap

Detroit, Michigan. 2017.

Sweetie and some pot dealers are sitting around, smoking and talking basketball, when Clement and some goons come in, demanding their stash and money.

They don’t give it up initially and Clement has Sweetie put on some loud music, naming him specifically, thus giving away they know each other. The others realize Sweetie let Clement into the house.

Once the music is loud, Clement shoots two of the stash house gang and his own goons. After the remaining gang member turns over the real stash, Sweetie leaves just as Clement shoots the last man.

In the car, Clement tells Sweetie that the goons wanted him to kill Sweetie so they wouldn’t have to split the haul with him. Clement says he wouldn’t turn on Sweetie because he respects his experience as a musician.

Clement tells Sweetie to move his car and leaves him in the alley, saying they’ll celebrate together later.

Three days later, Sweetie answers the phone at his bar and Clement asks if he’s had any trouble with law enforcement that day. Clement’s in a hotel with Sandy. He’s looking out the window at a bunch of police cars, pulling up with lights flashing. He tells Sweetie to get him a good lawyer.

The officer leading the arresting team is Wendell Robinson. The officer waiting for him in the car is R. Cruz.

In prison, Clement meets his lawyer, Carolyn Wilder.

Present Day.

Willa orders the entire breakfast menu from room service, including a $34 pot of coffee. Raylan promises they’ll be on the road soon.

Before he leaves with Robinson, he tells Willa to stay on the hotel premises. She turns on the news when he goes and the report of the judge’s shooting is on.

Clement sits in his underwear watching the report of the judge’s shooting. Sandy arrives, annoyed that Clement never came to rob the Albanian with her.

Clement is irked there is no bounty being offered for the judge’s killer. Sandy realizes what he’s done and tells him not to tell her anything more.

The phone rings and the front desk tells Sandy there are two police asking questions about Dell Wiems, the high roller whose penthouse they’re living in.

Robinson and Raylan arrive at the penthouse and Sandy’s in a housecoat, claiming to be ill.

They ask about Dell’s car. Sandy doesn’t believe anyone drove it the night before. She gets the keys from Clement, who is lying low in the bedroom/walk-in closet.

While they wait, Robinson feels like he knows Sandy’s name from somewhere. He remembers it was from a case file.

Sandy brings the keys out and tells them she scraped the left fender parking it. Robinson asks her if she’s seen Clement Mansell recently. He remembers she was with Mansell when they arrested him in the motel room.

Sandy feigns ignorance and rushes them out the door.

Raylan leaves her with a business card.

Clement comes out and sees the business card. He tells Sandy to take the gun and get rid of it in the River Rouge.

Raylan and Robinson find the Range Rover and the fender is damaged on the right side.

They decide to stake out the parkade and see if Sandy runs. While they wait, Robinson fills Raylan in on Clement Mansell. Explains Mansell’s lawyer got him off the hook for the Wrecking Crew murders (Sweetie’s friends) using a federal statute argument.

Sandy comes out and they follow her down to the river. They figure she’s there to get rid of something. Raylan’s phone rings. It’s Carolyn Wilder, asking to meet with him at her office as soon as possible.

Sandy’s about to throw the gun off the bridge when she’s spooked by a passing truck. She changes her mind.

Willa is bored in the hotel room. She decides to explore the neighborhood. She buys a knock-off Rolex from a vendor and then wanders into a rough, abandoned area.

Sandy goes to Sweetie’s and hides the gun back in the ceiling in the bathroom. She breaks a heel while standing on the toilet. Robinson’s watching as she walks to her car.

When Raylan arrives at Carolyn’s office, Clement is waiting. Carolyn warns Raylan off contacting her client unless he has real proof and plans to arrest him.

Raylan’s phone rings. It’s Willa and he realizes she’s gone out. He sees Clement speaking closely to Carolyn and he goes back to check on her. She admits Clement is a piece of work but fully intends to defend him as her client.

Raylan calls Willa back and tells her to get back to the hotel. She’s wandering through an old factory and finds a Pontiac hood emblem.

Raylan and Robinson go to talk to Sandy again, this time at the casino. Raylan fills Sandy in on what Clement did to the judge and his assistant.

Leaving the casino, Robinson and Raylan decide to get a drink at Sweetie’s.

Clement walks into Raylan’s hotel, claiming to be Raylan’s friend, and gets a call connected to the room where Willa answers.

Arriving at the bar, Robinson and Raylan find Sweetie and ask about Sandy. He deduces they’re looking for a gun she needed to hide. He shows them all the guns he keeps behind the bar. He calls Carolyn who shows up and tells Robinson and Raylan they need to get a search warrant.

After Raylan and Robinson leave, Carolyn asks Sweetie about Clement. Sweetie mentions Apopis, the Egyptian serpent god of Chaos who tried to kill Ra to prevent the sun rising again. He likens Manzell to Apopis.

Willa’s phone is charging in the hotel room. She’s not answering it when Raylan phones. He finds her gone when he gets back to the room. She’s left him a note.

He finds her in the hotel restaurant with Clement. Clement acts really friendly and brings up the Miami mobster shooting from years back. Raylan tries to get Willa to go to her room but she insists on staying longer. Raylan finally grabs Clement and hauls him outside. When Clement makes an inappropriate comment about Willa, Raylan beats him up and warns him off ever coming near Willa again.

Clement stumbles away. Raylan looks up and sees Willa crying in the hotel lobby, having seen the whole fight.
