-Author Ethan Slater is found dead, hanging from a beam in his home. Maura realizes that he was strangled and it was made to look like suicide. Ethan's new manuscript is missing.

-Frost is asked to look into an old case that is up for appeal. He finds a roommate who lied about Quentin, the suspect who was convicted.

-Turns out the real killer, Bradley Palmer told Slater that he killed his girlfriend while they were both in rehab. Slater then wrote about it in his new book. Palmer killed him and stole the manuscript.

-Jane and Maura find out that Angela is dating Cavanagh but he breaks things off when he feels the relationship is a conflict of interest.

-Angela talks to Korsak who tells her that Cavanagh's wife and baby were killed years ago and he hasn't had a real relationship since.
