Jane jumps off the bridge after Paul Wescourt believing that he is innocent of his girlfriend's murder. Neither of them are found until the following morning, thankfully both are alive. Maura is upset with Jane for jumping and not thinking about those who care about her. She's also upset with herself for not doing more to help Paul or stop Jane. Eventually the two make up.

Paul's wife seems like the most likely suspect in Dani's murder but she has an alibi. She was playing chess online with someone in London at the time of the murder. When Maura realizes that Dani's hair was cut after she was murdered, she connects it to one of Paul's other cases. Korsak visits the convicted murderer in prison and learns he had a pen pal, named Sarah but when they bring Sarah in they learn she is in a wheelchair and couldn't be the woman in the prison video visiting the prisoner. Sarah's ID was stolen and finding out who stole it leads Jane, Maura and the team to the real murderer.
