Recap

Everyone is freaking out. What happened to their feed? Meanwhile, Bradley is still talking. The connection is restored.

Paul is pissed. This was supposed to make space look safe, but the star is awol and people are blaming his rocket for UBA’s transmission fuck up.

Luna’s charges were dropped, but she doesn’t want to hear from Bradley again.

Bradley thinks Paul is an asshole. I don’t think Alex agrees.

Alex invites Cybil to dinner to discuss what Cory is doing. Cybil is pissed about her disappearing act, but Alex says that was a setup. She couldn’t go.

Cybil doesn’t think the deal will happen. Alex isn’t so sure.

Behind closed doors, Cybil tosses Alex under the bus. Stella and Cory stand up for her. Stella suggests they strap Alex to the mothership.

Bradley joins Alex and Christina on The Morning Show. As they’re pretending to chit chat, the cues disappear. Earlier, the lights flickered. The command room’s doors lock. The lights go off. The alarms sound. Nobody knows what’s going on, but they’re cut off from other areas of the building.

For some reason, Chip and Bradley get into the elevator, which appears to be running, until the doors shut.

Christina calls her family, barely able to contain her fear. Suddenly, the lights go on. They’ve been hacked.

People begin getting messages on their phones. Performance reviews are being shared. They’re graded on a tier system. It’s not good. Cory has no idea, as he’s busy berating IT Victor. In Cory’s email is Bradley’s message (video?) to Laura in a sexy voice.

Bradley and Chip emerge from the elevator. Laura is in Cory’s office. It was a video. As they discuss it, Cory gets messages, one of which is a recording of their conversation. They’re also asking for $50 million.

Bradley runs to the bathroom to throw up. Laura goes after her.

Cory calls Paul, wondering if he’s behind it, holding the network hostage until he meets their price. Paul mentions Alex.

Stella asks everyone to turn in all of their devices. Then she turns on Alex and explains her penance.

Mia calls her man to give him the update. They’re about to confiscate her phone, but he’s got kind word for her from the other side of the world.

Bradley calls Cory to her office. She’s worried that what happened will get out. Bradley is afraid that if he doesn’t pay the ransom, she won’t stand a chance.

Cory talks to the board, laying out just how bad things will be if the hack goes wide. Cybil is a bitch and has no desire to pay the ransom, saying that Bradley should have known better than to have anything on private, well, anywhere.

She thinks paying the money may be helping Putin fund his war effort against Ukraine. She calls for a vote, and Cory just sits there with a smirk on his face. He’s closed down. He’s also very sad. After all, he’s in love with Bradley.

Chip is having a thing with a woman who I don’t recognize. Eek.

Stella breaks the news to Bradley that they need to break the story tonight.

Alex walks in on Chip and Isabella. Her fear is that Chip pressured her, shades of Mitch.

They’ve been dating for almost a year and have already told HR. Alex says this will be great for her trust issues.

She goes all in and suggests they celebrate with dinner and champagne. They decline.

Bradley goes on air to tell the audience they aren’t paying the ransom.

Cory and Stella hang, while he talks about woolly mammoths and Stella warns him off of Paul.

When she leaves, Cory calls Earl. Mock up the deal points and leak it in the morning. Let the public lap it up.

Stella has a past with Paul Marks.

The Morning Show Season 3 Episode 2 Quotes

Stella: Alex, is there a problem?
Alex: No, no, no. All my shit’s already aired to the world. I’m good.
Stella: This conversation isn’t over yet.
Alex: [scoffs] OK.
Stella: ALEX. You blew off an incredibly important live broadcast that took us months to set up and promote. I’m putting you on TMS five days a week until after upfronts.
Alex: [chuckles] OK. Um, yeah. I’m happy to pull out a copy of my contract if you don’t remember my deal points.
Stella: Respectfully, Alex, actions have consequences, even for you.
Alex: Does Cybil know about this?
Stella: Yeah. She and Cory both signed off.
Alex: Oh, OK. I see. So you’re putting Bad Alex in a little TMS time-out? That’s what’s happening? No, it’s not. It’s not gonna happen. Doug will be all over this.
Stella: I’ll be happy to show him how you breached your contract. TMS, five times a week. Thank you for being a team player.

You know, every time that you start to speak, things feel like they’re getting worse. It’s a special gift.
