The tension has been building since last season, when Donna was killed in a hit ordered by Clay on Opie.

And it won't come to a head tonight, on the second episode of the second season of Sons of Anarchy.

But, soon enough Charlie Hunnam promises, Jax and Clay will have it out on the FX drama. Hunnam told TV Guide that his character tries to avoid a physical altercation for as long as possible.

"Jax tries to play an intellectual game with Clay rather than going in, guns blazing," the actor said. "But as his efforts get thwarted, his frustrations rise, and it all kind of comes to a head in a very violent fashion."

No word yet on the air date of the episode that will center around the Jax/Clay showdown, but Hunnam says:

"There's going to have to be a reckoning at some point, and Jax tries to do it in a way that's the least damaging to the club. But it builds and it builds and it builds to this violent confrontation. It's a pretty hairy sequence, but I think it's worth the wait."
